Fiskobirlik was founded on July 28, 1938, through the merger of the Giresun, Ordu, Trabzon, Keşap and Bulancak Hazelnut Agricultural Sales Cooperatives, following the 1st International Hazelnut Congress, which was convened after the proclamation of the Republic upon the words of the great leader Atatürk: “Unions concerning hazelnuts first and foremost, as well as our other principal products, must be established.” Fiskobirlik, the safeguard of the nation’s hazelnuts, is the world’s largest producer union in its field, with a variable number of members affiliated with 50 cooperatives stretching from Istanbul to Artvin.
In 1981, Fiskobirlik’s “Integrated Hazelnut Processing Plant” was put into service with the aim of increasing product quality and diversity by processing the hazelnuts produced in our country, offering new flavors to the palate, and making a greater contribution to the national economy through raw materials, semi-processed and finished products.
